Groundworks in Swindon, Bristol, Bath and the Surrounding Areas

Groundwork is pivotal in commercial and industrial construction, civil engineering projects, and public works. Through excavation and grading, our formwork company prepares the ground for installing essential services such as drainage, utilities and foundational supports. Requiring expert precision, our groundworks are significant because they ensure the structural integrity, safety and longevity of your completed project.

DJ Reinforcements specialises in various preparatory services for construction and civil engineering purposes, including S278 works, for projects based in Swindon, Bristol, Bath and the surrounding areas we cover. We also design and install footings, foundations, and concrete reinforcements for our growing number of clients.

Our Services

A construction site with a freshly laid asphalt path bordered by gravel. Metal fencing surrounds the area. Trees and a building are visible in the background. Construction materials are scattered around, and the ground appears uneven and muddy.

In commercial and industrial contexts, precise groundwork ensures that large-scale buildings and facilities can withstand substantial loads and environmental stressors. Properly executed groundworks mitigate subsidence and structural failure risks, safeguarding investments and ensuring operational efficiency.

In civil engineering, these preparatory works completed by DJ Reinforcements are crucial for developing infrastructure such as roads, bridges and tunnels. These projects require meticulous planning and execution to handle heavy traffic demands and environmental conditions, ensuring durability and public safety.

Furthermore, our work supports essential utilities and amenities in public works, including water supply, sewage systems, and public transportation networks. Effective groundwork in these areas promotes community well-being and sustainable development.

Our services provide the bedrock of successful construction and infrastructure projects, providing the stability and support necessary for durable, safe and functional built environments.

Examples of our services include the following:

  • Initial Investigation and Site Clearance
  • Footing and Foundation Works
  • Concrete Reinforcements
  • Provision for Drainage Groundworks
  • Provision for Cabling and Utility Groundworks
  • Provision for Septic Tanks and Treatment Plants

Our services commence with a planned site clearance and muck away, removing debris, vegetation and various obstructions to create a clean slate for development.

Whether you require utility groundworks for the installation of communications, drainage groundworks for waste management, or foundations for construction, DJ Reinforcements has the experience and professionalism to complete these services before further project development.

S278 Works

DJ Reinforcements has been approved to undertake all relevant groundwork for civils throughout the areas we cover, including Swindon, Bristol, Bath and the surrounding areas.

Section 278 (S278) of the Highways Act 1980 allows developers to alter or improve the road network, typically as part of a development project. The main objectives of S278 works are to ensure that any necessary changes, driven by new developments, are appropriately designed, funded, and constructed by the developer under the supervision of the highway authority.

S278 works can include creating new access points, junction improvements, traffic signal installation, pedestrian crossings, road widening, and other modifications required to accommodate the development’s impact.

S278 agreements ensure that the road infrastructure can safely and efficiently handle the changes brought about by new developments, benefiting both the development and the wider community.
